Exclusive: Man Utd Desperately Trying to Sell £85,000-a-Week Star With Garnacho

Manchester United are determined to offload Rasmus Hojlund to Inter Milan or another suitor ahead of next season as head coach Ruben Amorim has made it clear that he will not feature in his plans after struggling to rediscover his best form at Old Trafford, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

The Red Devils have already bolstered their attacking options during the initial 10-day transfer window, thanks to Matheus Cunha sealing his arrival from Premier League counterparts Wolverhampton Wanderers after his £62.5million release clause was triggered, but there is an appetite to oversee further business.

Although Bruno Fernandes is not on course to head through the exit door, due to choosing to stay at Manchester United instead of joining Saudi Arabian big-spenders Al-Hilal, Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho are among the names to have been made available as preparations are made for Amorim's first full campaign in charge.

Manchester United are desperate to find a new club for Hojlund, according to GMS sources, resulting in them escalating sorting his future to priority status as it is felt behind the scenes that they need to quickly identify a potential landing spot instead of leaving themselves at risk of scrambling for a solution in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Inter Milan could prove to be the striker's destination after the beaten Champions League finalists made contact with his entourage in an attempt to ascertain whether it would be possible to negotiate a cut-price deal, but it remains to be seen whether they will firm up their interest following the departure of head coach Simone Inzaghi.

GMS sources have been informed that Amorim has made the big decision not to include Hojlund in his plans for next term, having seen him endure a difficult 2024/25 campaign, and he would be tempted to turn to Cunha or Joshua Zirkzee as his first-choice frontman if he is unable to bring in a fresh option before the season gets underway.

Rasmus Hojlund's statistics for Manchester United this season

Although the 22-year-old has previously been described as 'sensational' and is admired by Serie A heavyweights Inter, the Red Devils are eager to sanction his departure as they are seeking ways to boost their budget in the aftermath of missing out on silverware and Champions League qualification.

Manchester United are actively offering Hojlund to clubs after determining that he has failed to live up to expectations since his £72million arrival from Atalanta in August 2023, GMS sources have learned, and he is in danger of being frozen out if he ends up remaining in his current surroundings.

GMS sources have been told that Manchester United's preference is to offload Hojlund in a permanent deal, but they are also refusing to rule out the possibility of having to settle for accepting an initial loan offer which includes an obligation to buy after his performances have not resulted in securing widespread interest.

The Denmark international still has three years remaining on his £85,000-per-week contract, which means the Red Devils are in a strong negotiating position, but Amorim's insistence that he will not be at the forefront of his thinking going forward means that suitors will see the summer as an ideal opportunity to pounce.

Although Manchester United have come to terms with the fact that they are in line to make a significant loss on Hojlund, GMS sources understand that Inter have pinpointed him as an option who is capable of providing back-up for Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram after previously impressing in Serie A.

GMS sources recently revealed that the Red Devils are in talks with academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo over a new deal, with there being a willingness to hand him the chance to return to his preferred position in the heart of the midfield, but there is a desire to revamp their attack ahead of next season.
