Fan sues Cardi B for $15k after she threw mic at her during concert in Vegas

An Ohio woman, identified only as Jane Doe, has filed a lawsuit against rapper Cardi B over a 2023 incident in which the artist allegedly threw a microphone at her during a performance on the Las Vegas Strip.

According to the suit, the fan claims she suffered bodily injuries, emotional distress, humiliation, reputational harm, and financial losses after being struck by the microphone.

The incident took place at Drai's Beachclub, where Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Cephus, was performing.

Viral video footage from the show captures someone in the crowd throwing water toward Cardi B, prompting the rapper to hurl her microphone in the direction of the splash.

The lawsuit states that Cardi B had previously encouraged fans to throw water on her during the performance, allegedly giving the impression that it was welcome.

Jane Doe claims other fans had splashed water earlier without consequence. When she did the same, she says, Cardi B retaliated by throwing the microphone, which reportedly struck her on the right shoulder.

The same microphone was later auctioned off for nearly $99,000, which the lawsuit argues worsened the emotional toll on the plaintiff.

The woman is seeking at least $15,000 in general damages, in addition to special and punitive damages.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated the matter but concluded no charges would be filed due to insufficient evidence, following a review by the Clark County District Attorney's Office.
