Napoli have reportedly ended their pursuit of Liverpool's wantaway star.
Galatasaray have backed out of the race for Darwin Nunez, opting to sign Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese. The Partenopei were negotiating for both players concurrently before eventually opting for the Serie A proven star.
The chase
As Pulse Sports reported, Napoli were keen on signing Nunez, and he was their first choice. According to Nicolas Schira, they had even reached an agreement on personal terms.
The report suggests Nunez has agreed to a contract until 2030 worth €5 million per year. However, they couldn't reach an agreement with the Reds on a transfer fee.
They submitted an offer of €40 million, which was rebuffed, as Liverpool were hoping to get a figure closer to their €85 million investment.
Napoli end pursuit
The Partenopei continued trying until today, when they informed Liverpool that they will not be sending any more bids, according to Fabrizio Romano.
This came after they decided to complete the move for Lucca, whom they negotiated for concurrently, and have sealed an agreement on personal terms and on the club-to-club front.
Saudi Arabian clubs remain keen on the Uruguayan, despite having been rejected by the striker. A move to Saudi Arabia could prove a huge boost for Liverpool, who are currently plotting a move for Isak.
