Manchester United are being linked with several potential new signings even though the first phase of the summer transfer window has closed.

United have already moved quickly this summer to get one deal over the line. Matheus Cunha arrived in a £62.5million deal from Wolves, and there is still the likelihood of more new arrivals being added to Ruben Amorim's squad ahead of next season.

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is a target for United, although the forward is also reportedly wanted by Tottenham Hotspur. United have also been heavily linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in recent weeks.

Here, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and rumours that have emerged recently.

United 'enquire' about transfer

United reportedly recently expressed an interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

ESPN have reported that United approached Donnarumma's agent about the possibility of signing the PSG shot-stopper amid uncertainty about his future. Inter Milan are also reported to have expressed an interest in signing the Italy international.

Donnarumma's contract with PSG expires next year, meaning he is fast approaching the last 12 months of his current deal. However, in an interview with Sky Italy, Donnarumma outlined his desire to stay in the French capital.

MEN Sport says: It's a surprise, to say the least, to see reports of United being linked with one of the best goalkeepers in the world who just helped PSG win the Champions League. United should be looking to sign the players players in their respective position, so if this rumour is true then it shows the club are being ambitious with their transfer targets this summer.

United handed transfer boost

United have been given fresh hope in the race to sign Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney.

According to Give Me Sport, Hackney is more likely to leave Boro this summer after the club agreed to let the midfielder depart ahead of next season.

Hackney is reported to be valued at around £20million by Boro, but United will apparently face competition from Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and West Ham for the midfielder's signature.
