Now that the January transfer window has been officially opened, Manchester United football club will most definitely remain keen on doing some transfer businesses to strengthen their team.

The Old Trafford side have endured a very disappointing start to the 2023/2024 season despite signing the likes of Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir last summer.

Manchester United have already made some moves so far this January transfer window and have confirmed the departure of Jadon Sancho on loan to Borussia Dortmund.

As a result of that, Manchester United football club are looking to improve their squad and have been linked with a move for highly-rated Middlesbrough defensive midfielder Hayden Hackney.

The 21-year-old England International, who gained promotion to the Middlesbrough first-team squad back in 2022 has proven to be an important member of the team so far.

The young defensive midfielder was hugely influential for Middlesbrough during the 2022/2023 season where he scored four goals and created six assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.

Hayden Hackney has also started the ongoing 2023/2024 season on a strong note, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the 22 matches he has played for Middlesbrough.

His excellent performances in that midfield role has caught the attention of a number of clubs and according to reports from Transfer News Live, Manchester United are also interested.

The reports further claimed that Manchester United football club are really interested in Hayden Hackney and have joined the race to lure him away from Middlesbrough this year.

It is believed that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants to add more quality to his midfield options, and he has identified Hayden Hackney as a needed addition to his squad.

But with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool also interested in Hayden Hackney, it remains to be seen where the young defensive midfielder will choose to continue his developments if he gets to leave Middlesbrough.
