Youngster Sam Murray has issued a farewell message after his Man United exit was announced.
Outgoing left-back Sam Murray has thanked everyone at Manchester United for their support after it was announced he will be leaving the club this summer.
United issued their end-of-season retained list on Monday and confirmed that Murray is one of nine players who will be leaving Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of June.
Murray is one of six academy players to have been informed he will be released at the end of the month. He joined United from Huddersfield Town back in 2017.
The left-back, who will turn 21 in September, was a regular fixture for United's Under-21s and Under-18s throughout his time at the club. He helped the Under-18s win the FA Youth Cup back in 2022, playing a key role from left-back.
Posting a farewell message on his Instagram page, he said: "After seven years, my time at Manchester United has come to an end.
"I would like to thank everyone at the club for your support, especially my coaches and teammates over the years.
"It's been a privilege to represent this club, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunities and experience this club has given me. I wish everyone the best of luck for the future.
"Once a red.
"Muz."
Murray signed his first professional contract at United in May 2023 and was taken to Spain by former United manager Erik ten Hag in December 2022 for the club's mid-season training camp and friendlies against Cadiz and Real Betis.
Ten Hag also took Murray to Norway for last summer's pre-season opener against Rosenborg and he was awarded a start at left-back. However, he never made a competitive appearance for the club.
