Retired Ghanaian footballer, Kevin-Prince Boateng has finally disclosed why he was sacked from the Black Stars camp at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The 36-year-old was famously dismissed alongside teammate Sulley Muntari over disciplinary reasons.
However, Boateng claims he was asked to leave because he and Muntari protested against the treatment of players in camp.
"I got kicked out from the national team and Schalke in the same season," Boateng said on Vibe with FIVE.
"We had a meeting, and I criticised them, and I said, 'they can't treat us like that' because we know how much they make, and they should invest in the organisation [and] give the players the money they deserved."
"They didn't like that, and they kicked me out."
Boateng and Muntari received their dismissal letter on the morning of Ghana's final group game against Portugal.
Ghana lost the game 2-1 after Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late winner, sending the four-time African champions out of the tournament in Brazil, as reported by the BBC.
Muntari called it quit last year while Boateng retired from football in 2023.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that retired Ghanaian footballer, Kevin-Prince Boateng has proclaimed Jesus as his lord and saviour after getting baptised in his native Germany.
The 36-year-old affirmed his religious vows after going through the sacred act, taking a new leaf in his life.
Boateng took to social media to share the moment with his millions of followers on Instagram.
