Nigerian fans warn Victor Osimhen to "deep-clean" his inner circle after a journalist leaked betting odds on his transfer, sparking outrage and calls for caution ahead of his next move.
Nigerian football fans have issued a strong warning to Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen following a controversial social media post by renowned photojournalist PoojaMedia that shared betting odds on Osimhen's next club.
The post, which has since been deleted amid widespread backlash, sparked outrage across Nigerian social media platforms, with many urging Osimhen to be cautious about who he trusts with information about his career.
Betting odds post sparks outrage and FIFA concerns
In the now-removed post, PoojaMedia displayed betting odds suggesting whether Osimhen would stay at Galatasaray, move to another European club, or join the Saudi Pro League.
The move was widely condemned, with critics pointing out that such speculation from an athlete's close friend violates FIFA regulations and could harm the player's reputation.
Prominent voices on X (formerly Twitter), including user Tekanomo, called on Osimhen to "do a serious deep-cleaning of friends who are privy to information about your career" and even suggested signing non-disclosure agreements to protect sensitive details.
Caution against influencers and content farming
Tekanomo tweeted, "Guy @victorosimhen9, I know you are trying to put your brothers on, there is nothing bad in that. But please, you need to really address these guys and warn them sternly not to say anything in capacity for you. You are a bigger brand than you think."
Others warned Osimhen about the dangers of social media influencers who often use personal moments or insider information for engagement and content creation.
One comment read, "A quick reminder: social media influencers are business-minded. For many, every hangout, word, or gesture from you is content. Please, be cautious. Limit access. Share less. Guard your space. It's not hate. It's wisdom. Omoba-you know how the street works. Be smart."
Osimhen's future remains a hot topic after the 26-year-old reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Al Hilal following an impressive season at Galatasaray.
The incident has heightened calls for the striker to be more vigilant about his inner circle to avoid leaks and misinformation that could affect his career.
