Cristiano Ronaldo Spotted Wearing Traditional Saudi Dress After Making Asian Champions League Debut (Video)

Cristiano Ronaldo, Saudi Arabia, traditional dress, Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have wholeheartedly embraced Saudi Arabian culture, as evidenced by his recent wearing of a thobe.

The veteran, who joined Al-Nassr in December 2022, is credited with inspiring numerous high-profile players to make their way to the Middle East. Ronaldo is also recognised as an ambassador for Saudi Arabia.

The Portuguese phenom has regained his form since his unconventional yet bold transfer, which came after his tumultuous second stint with Premier League side, Manchester United.

Despite not winning any trophies with the Knights of Najd last season, Ronaldo changed that narrative by scoring a brace as his team clinched the Arab Club Champions Cup, according to Reuters.

Ronaldo spotted wearing Saudi traditional dress

Off the field, the 38-year-old has clearly immersed himself in the Saudi way of life.

In a video circulating on social media, spotted by Sports Brief, Ronaldo was spotted wearing a white thobe as he engaged in conversation with close associates, including Cristiano Jr.

What is a thobe?

A thobe is a traditional robe, typically ankle-length with long sleeves, primarily worn by men in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as in certain East and West African countries.

The wearing of a thobe can vary based on local customs and traditions, with some opting for it on formal occasions and others considering it suitable for informal settings.

Notably, in the Gulf states, thobes are the predominant choice for men's formal attire.
