Discussions have continued regarding the health of former APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, following reports claiming he is in critical condition at a hospital in London.
However, in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Monday, Ganduje's Chief of Staff and former Kano State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Mohammed Garba, provided clarity on the matter, stating that although Ganduje, who is 75 years old, is indeed in London, he is in good health contrary to the rumours circulating.
"He is fine. Of course, it is rare for someone of Ganduje's age not to have some minor health concerns, but it is not true that he is in critical condition as people are claiming," the former Commissioner stated.
He added that since the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Ganduje has been in London, which is why he was unable to attend Buhari's funeral.
"We spoke with him just last night, and there is no problem. Anyone can fall sick, but as far as I know, he is in stable health," Garba said.
Mohammed Garba further stated that if Ganduje's health were in a critical state, they would have no reason to hide it from his supporters so that prayers could be made on his behalf.
Additionally, a family source who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity confirmed that there is no truth to the rumours about Ganduje's health.
"I have not spoken to him directly, but I have spoken with those who are with him over there, and there is nothing like what is being spread. We are also just seeing these rumours everywhere," the source said.
Ganduje, who led the APC from 2023, resigned from his position citing health reasons, as stated in his resignation letter.
However, he was later seen taking up duties as the Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which led some to question the reasons he gave for stepping down, while others suspect it was part of moves to bring his political rival and former Kano State Governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, into the APC
