EPL: Arteta breaks silence on Partey's rape allegations

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has insisted the Premier League handled the rape allegations against Thomas Partey properly.

Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault days.

The charges were brought against the Ghana midfielder after his contract with the Gunners expired.

Arteta, speaking during a press conference in Singapore, has said Arsenal "100 per cent" followed the "right processes".

His comments come amid widespread criticism following the revelation that complaints were made about Partey almost a year before his first arrest in 2022.

The Telegraph reports that there has been definitive evidence that Arsenal, the FA, and the Premier League were aware of concerns as early as September 2021.

However, there was no investigation at the time, as they case fell outside the FA's safeguarding responsibility for adults and minors "at risk" in the sport.
