Pastor Adeboye to lead national prayer for Nigeria's economy

Amid deepening economic hardship in Nigeria, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, is set to lead a national prayer session focused on the country's economic recovery.

According to a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH, the session will be the central focus of the church's July 2025 thanksgiving service, themed "Divine Intervention." The event is scheduled to take place at the RCCG's national headquarters in Oyingbo, Lagos.

Speaking during a press conference in Lagos on Friday, Adeboye, through his Special Assistant on Administration, Pastor Dele Balogun, described the initiative as a faith-driven response to the worsening socio-economic conditions caused by high inflation and other structural challenges.

"Our nation, Nigeria, as well as other nations of the world, are going through a challenging time. However, the good news is that these challenges are surmountable by faith, if we do not entertain doubt," he said.

Pastor Adeboye emphasized the need for Nigerians to move away from a culture of negativity and embrace faith-based thinking and positive action as tools for national development.

"As citizens and stakeholders in Nigeria, we need to drop the garb of negative confessions and plug into the mystery of faith and positive reasoning, to drive positive action towards moving Nigeria forward," he stated.

The revered cleric expressed strong belief in God's power to reverse the economic downturn and reposition the country for prosperity.

"To this effect, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adeboye, has undertaken to lead prayers for national economic restoration and enlargement. Our nation needs transformation into the realm of divine opportunities," the statement added.
