'He's intelligent' - Pereira picks Modric's replacement at Real Madrid

Head coach of Wolves, Vitor Pereira, has tipped Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler to take over from Luka Modric as a long-term replacement at Santiago Bernabeu.

Pereira, who coached Guler at Fenerbahçe, also hailed the Turkey international as an intelligent player.

Speaking to Marca, Pereira said:

"Obviously, joining Real Madrid, with so many top-level players, is not easy," Pereira told Marca.

"But Guler is going to carve out his place. I've no doubt that the future holds great things for him.

"He is intelligent and looks for solutions before receiving [the ball]. He can play short and long, he has the final passes, he shoots from outside.

"He understands the game. Of course I can see him playing in Modric's place."

Modric is all set to move to AC Milan this summer.

The Croatia captain is currently representing Los Blancos at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States and will leave Xabi Alonso's side for Milan after the tournament.
