Rerun Election: Low turnout of voters in Jos

Despite the anticipation surrounding the elections, the Plateau North Senatorial Zone has witnessed a low voter turnout at the time of this report.

Specifically, some pivotal polling units in the Jos North area, which traditionally experienced significant voter participation, were found deserted.

At Hill Station junctions 002, 023, and Miango Road, Kufang, INEC officials, and party agents were seen setting up and waiting for voters who had yet to come.

At Hill Station 023, where over 100 people are eligible to vote, two people have so far cast their votes. 002 has had less than 10 people vote so far.

A polling officer, Amanda Monday, at Hill Station 002, expressed optimism that voters would eventually come out.

A voter, Ibrahim Elijah, says, "Apart from the biting cold this morning, we have allowed INEC and the Appeal Court to put in who they want. When people come out to vote, they will twist the process and bring back those we did not vote for.

"Everyone knows Plateau is PDP, and when the People's Party is not on the ballot, what do you want us to do?"

However, security personnel were seen at strategic locations, while citizens were also seen moving around, doing their businesses."
