Cristiano Ronaldo rape accusers appeal rejected after asking for millions more than settlement money

On Tuesday, a U.S. appeals court ruled in favour of Cristiano Ronaldo, dismissing an appeal filed by the rape accuser.

In 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo was accused by Kathryn Mayorga of rape, which led to a court case in the US.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo paid Kathryn Mayorga $375,000 (£299,385) of settlement money following her rape accusation.

She is now attempting to compel the famous soccer player to pay millions of dollars above the settlement money.

Mayorga's case dismissed

Mayorga sued, claiming she was the victim of fraud, coercion, defamation, conspiracy, and breach of contract. She also asked for damages of more than $25 million (£19.9 million).

According to the 9th Circuit court as reported by Daily Mail, "Despite the settlement and confidentiality agreement between Ronaldo and Mayorga, Stovall sought and used documents from 'Football Leaks.

"Including those clearly marked attorney-client privileged - to prosecute a new lawsuit on behalf of Mayorga against Ronaldo."

Judge Dorsey also said that "Ronaldo did not waive or otherwise forfeit his claim of attorney-client privilege as to the 'Football Leaks' documents."

The appellate court disregarded Stoval's claim that Ronaldo did not take sufficient precautions to secure the documents.

The San Francisco court, divided by a panel of three judges, disregarded their claim preventing Mayorga from submitting the case again.

Judge Johnnie Rawlinson said on Tuesday, "The district court clearly recognized the gravity of dismissing the case and accordingly provided a thorough analysis, amply supported by factual findings.

"Mayorga gave consent through her lawyers, including Stovall, to make her name public."

At the age of 25, Mayorga-a model and former teacher from the Las Vegas area-met Ronaldo at a nightclub in 2009, and the two of them proceeded to his hotel suite.

In her case, which was filed nearly ten years later, she claims that the 24-year-old football player sexually molested her in a bedroom.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the best player in the world after his latest performance in Saudi Arabia.
