'I Had to Go to Daura to Meet Buhari for The Benefit of the Oil Produced in Our Backyard' - Pa Edwin Clark

A Niger Delta Leader and Elder Statesman, Pa Edwin Clark has alleged that he had to travel to Daura to meet former President Muhammadu Buhari to receive the benefit of the oil produced by the Niger Delta. He said in an interview with Arise Tv news that the Ijaws and the people of the Niger Delta have been marginalized in the disbursement of the funds generated from their own resources.

He said, ''In the marginal oil field, the Ijaws are not there, Niger Delta people are not there. What's wrong? I had to go to Daura to meet Mr. President [Buhari] for the benefit of the oil produced in our backyard. And he will give me the terms and conditions. No, this will never happen in 1950, 1951, and even 1960 when we got independence.

The Western Nigeria to which we belong and the Eastern Region to which we also belong, we never benefitted from the resources of this country. For instance, even in Western Nigeria where we belong to, the Western Nigeria got a contract from Israel to construct roads in the West, those roads were never made in the Midwest."
