Chelsea are saying their 'fantastic' player is not up for sale, but he actually wants to leave

Reports have claimed that Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is still keen on a move to Brighton this summer.

According to The Argus, the 20-year-old would ideally like to return to the side who he played for on loan with last season.

Colwill is currently expected to join up with the Chelsea squad during their tour of the United States to face a number of Premier League teams during pre-season.

His career took on leaps and bounds last season, with him being described by the Seagulls manager Roberto de Zerbi as 'fantastic'.

Despite representing his country at the Under 21 level just over a week ago, it will not be long until he is travelling across the pond to join up with his teammates.

He will also be set to meet new manager Mauricio Pochettino for the first time, and it has been claimed that the early meetings between the pair are going to be crucial in convincing the youngster to stay in West London.

First team football is obviously a lot more difficult to come by at Stamford Bridge, and the defensive options there could see Colwill worried that there will be no clear path to regular appearances.

Wesley Fofana is hoping to have a big, injury-free season as part of what is likely to be a back four going into the next campaign.

He will have Thiago Silva to learn from, with it surely likely to be the Brazilian's season at this level as age begins to catch up with him.

The main challenge to minutes for the 20-year-old is likely to be Benoit Badiashile, who may miss the opening games of the campaign due to an injury suffered at the back end of last season.

However, it has already been reported that Pochettino would not be opposed to starting both left-footed defenders in a central defensive partnership.
