Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, according to reports in France.
The 20-year-old, who left Manchester City to join Dortmund nearly five years ago, has been one of the standout performers for the Bundesliga club this season.
In 48 appearances for Dortmund this term, Gittens has 12 goals and five assists, while he is now widely expected to return to England in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen ahead of their Club World Cup campaign, which begins this month, and completed a £30m deal to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this week.
According to RMC Sport, Chelsea now have an agreement in principle with Gittens with a seven-year contract being accepted by the winger.
The report adds that Chelsea and Dortmund remain in talks over a fee for the England Under-21 international.
It's understood that Gittens has a €60 million (£50.5m) release clause in his deal with Dortmund after the German club secured qualification for the Champions League on the final day of the Bundesliga season.
Chelsea have until 7pm on Tuesday to complete their deal for Gittens before the transfer window closes again until June 16.
Chelsea's Club World Cup tournament begins against Los Angeles FC on June 16.
Enzo Maresca's side will then play Flamengo on June 20 before finishing their Group D campaign against ES Tunis on June 20.
