EPL: Lampard speaks on new Kante role after 3-1 win at Bournemouth

Chelsea interim boss, Frank Lampard has explained why he started N'Golo Kante in a more advanced role in their 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Kante was the furthest midfielder alongside Enzo Fernandez and Conor Callagher in the middle.

The Blues took the lead through Gallagher, before the Cherries equalized through Matias Vina.

Lampard's men then scored twice through Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix.

On N'Golo Kante's more advanced role, Lampard said:

"It's worked for us a few times. He was fantastic in that area against Real Madrid.

"A lot of people consider him a defensive midfielder because he's so good at defensive actions. But a lot of his stuff is really front foot and we can be really good higher up the pitch with his actual end product."
