EPL: I don't know if Chelsea will improve under new manager - Lampard

Chelsea's interim boss, Frank Lampard, has said he is not sure if the club can bounce back from their miserable Premier League campaign to challenge for trophies next season.

The Blues are in 12th place ahead of their final two fixtures.

Co-owner Todd Boehly has gone through three managers over the course of the 2022-2023 campaign, having sacked Thomas Tuchel before replacing Graham Potter with Lampard.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to come in next season as the next permanent manager at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea fans hope the new season will be better, but Lampard has warned that it won't be easy.

"The Premier League moves on very fast; everyone is moving on and trying to do the same thing, and you see the emergence of Newcastle, Brighton, and Aston Villa and these teams that are getting themselves into that equation now.

"My experience of football is that if you switch it off, it's not easy to switch it on. It doesn't always become an overnight remedy.

"It's not going to be my responsibility, but from my experience of being in a consistently performing club for many years, the moment you switch off, [it] becomes very hard to switch it on. That will be the test next year," Lampard told reporters.
