Tammy Abraham a back-up plan for Man Utd if they miss out on Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen

He is not first or second choice, but Manchester United have Tammy Abraham on their radar as they plan to sign a new striker in the summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo left the club before Christmas and Wout Weghorst has arrived on loan, but the Red Devils still need a new long-term option to lead their front line.

Anthony Martial appeared to be the first choice for Erik ten Hag at the start of the season but he has been hampered so badly by injury that he now could be sold in the summer.

Whether the Frenchman stays or not, United are ready to invest a lot of money in a new central striker, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Tottenham's Harry Kane the leading candidates for the job.

Both the Nigeria 24-year-old and the England captain would likely cost around £100m so the Red Devils would only be signing one of them, if they can convince either to move to Old Trafford.

However, Spurs would rather not sell Kane to a Premier League rival, which could lead to him staying in north London or making a move to the likes of Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.

Osimhen is also well-liked elsewhere, with Chelsea interested and Real Madrid also a possible destination for the Serie A star.

Manchester United will still fancy their chances of either snapping up Osimhen or Kane, but if they fail they may well turn to former Chelsea star Tammy Abraham.

The Telegraph reports that the England international is a 'fall back option' for the Red Devils if they miss out on their leading targets.

The 25-year-old left Chelsea for Roma in 2021 and had an encouraging first season in Italy, scoring 17 Serie A goals and nine more in Europe as Roma won the Europa Conference League.

This campaign has been less productive, with six Serie A goals in 21 appearances, but he has still done enough to remain on the radar at Old Trafford.
