Anambra Woman Arrested by Police After She Sold Her 3-Month-Old Grandson for N50,000

The operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a grandmother identified as Oluchukwu Nwosu for allegedly selling her three-months-old grandson. According to Newsmen, the development was disclosed yesterday by Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the media aide to the state Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo.

It was gathered that the mother of the baby reported the matter to the ministry of Women and Social Welfare and after diligent investigation for about one month, the suspects involved were arrested by the police. While confessing to her crime, Nwosu revealed that she decided to sell the baby because he was born out of wedlock, and she doesn't have a stable source of income to cater for his feeding.

The police also arrested one Madam Evelyn, a native of Uruagu Nnewi, who confessed that she paid N200,000 to the person who obtained the baby from Miss Nwosu. All the suspects involved in the transaction were said to have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
