Husband passes away after lying to British wife about Northern Ireland trip to secretly visit girlfriend in Lagos

A British wife has emotionally narrated how her Nigerian husband passed away after secretly traveling to Lagos to visit his girlfriend, despite telling her he was going to Northern Ireland for a two-week lecture.

This revelation was shared in a series of posts made available on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

In the post, the voice of the woman is heard recounting how her husband informed her he would be away for two weeks on a work-related trip. "My husband told me he was travelling to Northern Island for a lecture which is to last for two weeks," she said.

But days later, she received a call informing her that he had been involved in an accident in Lagos, Nigeria-and had passed away.

"My husband flew from UK to Nigeria just to cheat and he died there. My husband and I were married for 15 good years and we had 3 kids. I'm a British woman, we met here in the UK, we fell in love and got married."

She noted that she never suspected her husband of cheating. "I never suspected my husband for cheating for once because we lived in peace. My children are beautiful and well-behaved, they eat African food."

She added that he often traveled to Nigeria, usually once or twice a year, and she had even accompanied him on some of those trips. "My husband always travel to Nigeria, once or twice a year but I didn't know he was having different affairs when he travelled. I've been to Nigeria multiple times when he was alive and when we were married."

She continued, "So my husband took a trip to Northern Island one of the years. He was supposed to go for a seminar that was to last for two weeks. He was going to lecture and train students there. I said ok."

According to her, they stayed in touch regularly via video calls, especially when he said he was less busy at the hotel. But suddenly, she couldn't reach him. "After about a week, I tried to call my husband on a particular day. I gave him a lot of missed calls, no one was answering, and this time he was supposed to be done with his lectures and back to a hotel."

Eventually, someone picked up the phone and broke the news. "Somebody picked and told me my husband was in a hospital fighting for his life, that he had been involved in a ghastly motor accident."

"The person who picked the call did not give much details. I kept calling, nobody was answering." A few hours later, her husband's younger brother called. "I got a call from my in-law who happened to be my husband's younger brother. He told me my husband was dead and he had been in the hospital with him since."

She was shocked and asked where the incident had happened. "I asked if he was in Island and he was like no, your husband died in Lagos."

That was when the truth sank in. "My husband told me he was going to Northern Island. Apparently, he went to see a woman in Nigeria. He involved himself in an accident and he died."

"I couldn't believe what my in-law was saying. I had to rush to Nigeria to confirm things."

As the emotional post made its way online, many social media users flooded the comment section to share their thoughts on the betrayal and tragic ending.
