Qatar 2022: FIFA investigating Salt Bae's access to World Cup final celebrations

FIFA is investigating how the Turkish chef, Salt Bae, gained "undue access" to Argentina's on-pitch celebrations after the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar.

Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gokce, posted different photos of himself with the FIFA World Cup trophy on social media after Argentina's final win over France.

He was also seen trying to pose for a photo with Argentina captain Lionel Messi and several La Albiceleste teammates.

His presence following the trophy presentation is now the subject of a FIFA investigation after attracting widespread criticism.

A widely reported statement from world football's governing body read: "Following a review, FIFA has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail Stadium on December 18. The appropriate internal action will be taken."

Earlier this month, Bae posted an image on Instagram of himself at a 2022 World Cup match alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Brazil legends Ronaldo, Cafu and Roberto Carlos.
