The family of the late Aminu Dantata has disclosed that delays in obtaining the required approval from Saudi Arabian authorities have postponed his burial arrangements.
Mustapha Abdullahi Junaidu, Secretary of the late Aminu Dantata revealed to journalist that they are finding it difficult to complete the necessary paperwork because the authorities do not work during weekends.
Islamic practices require a prompt burial of the deceased's remains but Junaid revealed they are still exploring all avenues to ensure his final wishes to be buried in Madina are met."We are working diligently to ensure his wishes are met but the authorities in Saudi do not work during the weekends so we are finding it difficult to conclude the necessary paperwork. The presidency is also assisting us in our efforts so hopefully, we will get things done."
However, he emphasized that if the delay persists, they will have no choice but to bring him back to Kano so he can be properly laid to rest.
Dantata died on Friday night in Abu Dhabi and a funeral prayer in absentia has already been performed for him in Kano on Saturday afternoon.
