Peoples Democratic Party leader Bode George has dismissed insinuations that Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and FCT Minister, owns the part.
This followed claims that Wike does as he pleases with the party without any consequence.
George spoke in an interview with Arise TV today, June 26.
During the interview, the show's anchor, Rufai Oseni, made the observation, stating that those with the financial means to manage the party's operations, rather than intellectual ideologies, are in charge of Nigerian politics.
''If intellectual prowess wins, Professors should be Presidents of Nigeria by now. It not intellectual prowess that wins. It is 'owo', yoruba word for money. Nigeria's politics is an 'Owonikoko' politics and that is why someone like Wikelaws claim that he funded the party when the party was down.
And you said nobody is bigger than the party, Wike is bigger than the party as we speak today'' Rufai had told George
In response, the PDP leader denied the allegation.
''No! No! I do not agree with you that Wike is the owner of the party. No! He joined like everybody else. If you start thinking that it is only because of his money that he remains a member of the party, wait until NEC will meet and take decisive actions on all those who have committed an error. That is when you will know that the party is very much awake.
When did Wike join the party? WHo said he owns it? He has contributed his quota but to say he ons the party, that is a fallacy. Impossible.
We are not like a party owned by one individual.''
When questioned about which party he was referring to, George said
''APC. He said it openly that I owe it''
