'Without me, you would have lost' - Elon Musk blasts Trump, calls him ungrateful

Famous Tech billionaire Elon Musk has lambasted U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of being ungrateful and claiming that without his support, Trump would have lost the 2024 presidential election.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the Tesla CEO wrote:

"Without me, Trump would have lost the election. Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate."

He added in the comment section: "Such ingratitude."

Elon Musk's outburst comes shortly after he slammed Trump's recent tax and spending bill, calling it a "disgusting abomination" and warning that removing the electric vehicle (EV) mandate would damage the industry.

In response, Trump downplayed Elon's contribution to his victory, saying he would have won Pennsylvania with or without Elon Musk.

"I would have won Pennsylvania regardless of Elon. I'm very disappointed with Elon. Since the [Democrats] didn't pick Josh Shapiro, I would have won Pennsylvania by a lot," Trump said, referring to the state's governor and VP Kamala Harris' decision not to select him as her running mate.

Trump also expressed doubt about their once-friendly relationship.

Speaking from the Oval Office ahead of a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump told reporters:

"Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore. He hasn't said anything bad about me yet, but I'm sure that'll be next. I'm very disappointed... I've helped Elon a lot."

He suggested Elon's recent criticism is driven by frustration over the EV mandate being cut:

"He only developed a problem when he found out I would cut the EV mandate."
