Manchester United are interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and could beat teams like Arsenal and Newcastle United to his signing.
Mbeumo is one of a number of forwards they are internally discussing.
There have been no formal talks yet, but he is a player United have admired for a while and is seen as a good fit for Ruben Amorim's system.
With doubts over the futures of Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, the Red Devils are looking to act quickly in the market to give Amorim as much time with his players ahead of the new season.
Mbeumo is about to enter the final year of his Brentford contract, although the club have the option to extend by a further year.
It is understood United are getting encouragement the player wants to come to Old Trafford.
They will face competition, though. A number of Premier League clubs are keen on the player.
