Juventus star Alisha Lehmann has responded to criticism.
Juventus and Swiss national team star Alisha Lehmann has hit back at criticism from a former teammate, who claimed she spends too much time on social media, affecting her football performance.
Lehmann, who boasts over 16.5 million followers on Instagram, expressed her hurt and disappointment in a recent podcast appearance.
"I thought we were friends, I wouldn't say something like that. And I would never say something about another woman," Lehmann said, referring to her former teammate's comments in a Swiss newspaper.
Lehmann emphasised that she doesn't mind criticism about her football performance, but comments about her personal life from people she cares about hurt her.
She said, "If people have an opinion about my football... I don't care. It's your opinion, it's the game. Football can change so fast, but if it's about my personal life, then it hurts me a bit. But only from people that I care about."
Lehmann also highlighted her dedication to her craft, revealing that she trains every day with Juventus, pushing herself to be the best.
She added, "If people actually see how much I work, like the players here at Juventus, we train every day, so hard and I'm so professional. I'm never late. I do everything to be the best every day."
This criticism comes amid Lehmann's transition to Juventus, where she joined her boyfriend Douglas Luiz.
The pair's salary disparity has also been a topic of discussion, with Lehmann earning reportedly around $200,000 per year, significantly less than Luiz's estimated $7-9 million annually.
