Mason Greenwood criticised by Getafe coach after Man Utd star

Greenwood netted Getafe's first-half opener with a deflected effort before Borja Mayoral, who is now joint-top scorer in La Liga alongside Jude Bellingham and Girona's Artem Dovbyk with 14 goals this season, doubled the hosts' lead in the 36th minute.

The victory keeps Getafe 10th in La Liga and has ended their run of back-to-back defeats in the Spanish top flight.

Greenwood has impressed during his loan spell at Getafe, which has led to calls from some United supporters to allow the 22-year-old back in Erik ten Hag's squad for next season.

However, Bordalas was quick to remind Greenwood after Getafe's win over Granada that he needs to remain an attacking threat for the entire game.

'He is a great player but everyone has a job. We are very happy with the work from Greenwood, Borja, Maxi but without everyone's work he cannot shine,' Bordalas said.

'Greenwood had a great first half, although not so much in the second half.

'But everyone has worked for the team. They were aware of the importance of the game and finally we achieved it.'

Greenwood joined Getafe on loan in the final hour of the summer transfer window after United held an internal investigation and concluded that the forward should restart his career elsewhere following his arrest in January 2022 for attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.

The 22-year-old had all charges against him dropped last February and United had considered reintegrating him back into the first-team squad before the club received major backlash from supporterss over the prospect of his return.
