Chelsea is willing to be patient as they hope to sign £50m Premier League player

Chelsea is willing to wait until they can sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

According to talkSPORT, Aaron Ramsdale is emerging as a top target for Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea are ready to play the long game.

The same outlet has also suggested that the 25-year-old could cost £50m.

Ramsdale's future at the Emirates is currently in doubt after the Englishman lost his spot in the team to David Raya.

He is now being linked with a January move to Chelsea despite the Blues having just signed Robert Sanchez.

Aaron Ramsdale should not be a top target for Chelsea

It is strange to hear from talkSPORT that Ramsdale is emerging as a top target for Chelsea.

The above does not mean he is a bad player. The England international showed last season that he is anything but. He kept 14 clean sheets in the Premier League, with only David de Gea recording more.

However, the Blues signed Sanchez, who has been far from terrible this term, and have more pressing concerns.

First and foremost, the issue that they have got to address is the lack of goals coming from their forward players.

Raheem Sterling is the team's top scorer in the Premier League with just three strikes to his name, while Nicolas Jackson, Pochettino's first-choice centre-forward at the minute, has netted on just two occasions in the top flight.

Really, then, they need to be thinking about fixing that before looking at goalkeepers, especially considering the fact that they already have quite a decent one.

Sanchez has not been faultless at Chelsea since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion, making a huge mistake against Ramsdale's side last month. But other than that, the 25-year-old has done what has been asked of him.

Ultimately, the focus has to be up front and not between the sticks if you are Chelsea.
