Moises Caicedo will be hoping to follow in Thiago Silva's footsteps after suffering a nightmare Chelsea debut.
The 21-year-old endured a torrid cameo off the bench in Sunday's 3-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium.
It was his first match for the Blues since joining from Brighton in a British record transfer worth £115million.
But he failed to impress in the London derby, as he repeatedly gave the ball away before bringing Emerson Palmieri down for a penalty late on.
And while rivals fans have been revelling in the Ecuador international's dismal display, Caicedo can take solace in Silva's horror Premier League debut before he came a hero at Stamford Bridge.
Making his first top-flight appearance away at West Brom in September 2020, the Brazilian was helpless as the Baggies scored three times in the opening half hour.
The then-36-year-old's poor touch gifted West Brom's second goal in the eventual 3-3 draw, with supporters and pundits left wondering whether Silva would be a success in England.
But he is now considered one of the finest defenders in the Premier League, and a key player for Chelsea despite approaching the age of 40.
Speaking to UEFA Champions League Magazine at how he managed to get back on track after his disastrous debut, he said: "Choosing to move to a stronger league at the age of 36 is fearful to me.
"People will focus a lot on your age and question if it is going to work out.
"I had butterflies in my stomach, I made a mistake in my first game that you wouldn't normally expect from me.
"From that day, I started studying the opposition forwards; how they press the defenders and what could I do to be faster."
And Caicedo has stressed he is eager to improve as he looks to help Chelsea secure their first win of the new season.
He said on Instagram: "It wasn't the debut that I expected but I'm happy to get my first minutes with this big club.
"We'll keep working hard to put this team where it deserves. Thanks to the fans who are supporting me."
