Novak Djokovic blasted for 'terrible behaviour' towards ball boy at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic has been slammed for his behaviour towards a ball boy at Wimbledon. Britney Spears' husband Sam Asghari has hit out at the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion while reviewing old footage of the tennis great.

Djokovic has often let his emotions get the better of him on court. It was no different during Sunday's Wimbledon final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz.

In the final set of the match, Djokovic took out his frustration by smashing his racket against the net post after being broken by his opponent. He was immediately given a code violation by the referee and has since been fined for his actions.

But it was another incident that Asghari commented on via his Instagram page. Husband of pop icon Spears, Asghari, posted a video of Djokovic appearing to shout at a ball boy on his story.
He labelled it "terrible behaviour" and reckons the ball boy will end up having the last laugh. Asghari wrote: "I hate seeing things like this. A champion is only a champion when they lead by example.

"You are not greater than others if you act like this. One day the ball boy will be champion and will never forget this.

"Terrible behaviour. I hope to never be like this."

Djokovic was unable to bounce back from his racket-smashing outburst on Sunday. Alcaraz saw out the remainder of the set to triumph at SW19 for the first time.

The former World No 1 has been fined £6,117 for his antics. Djokovic refused to apologise for the incident when speaking to the press after the match.

He said: "There's not much to talk about that. Second one was frustration. I had break points in the second game.

"Yeah, just tough, tough couple of points. He played amazing to break my serve, which was enough to win the fifth.

"The first one was the time violation, so yeah. Not a great moment again, but you just kind of have to accept it."

Asked later if he regretted the incident, Djokovic said: "It was a frustration in the moment.

"I answered to your colleague two minutes ago about that. There's not much to say about that."

Djokovic missed the chance of winning a 24th Grand Slam singles title. He remains one behind Margaret Court as the most successful male or female player in the Open Era.
