EPL: It's a shame - Koulibaly sends message to former Chelsea coach, Tuchel

Chelsea centre-back, Kalidou Koulibaly has paid tribute to the club's former manager, Thomas Tuchel.

Koulibaly thanked Tuchel for playing a key role in bringing him to Chelsea from Napoli last year, adding that it is a shame that both of them did not work together for long at Stamford Bridge.

Recall that Koulibaly joined Chelsea from Napoli in the summer of 2022, while Chelsea, under the leadership of co-owner Todd Boehly, sacked Tuchel last September after their Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

In an interview with Bein Sport, the Senegalese international said:

"I had the chance to play against him.

"There was a Napoli-PSG when he was in Paris. And we had two draws. After the match, we spoke, and he congratulated me. He told me I was a great player. Subsequently, he tried to recruit me to PSG."

The defender added,

"It did not happen, but at Chelsea, it did. He was really enthusiastic, and I, too, was happy to work with him. It is a shame it did not last very long. But he was very important in my arrival at Chelsea, and I have to thank him."
