Another Arnold situation? - PSG target Liverpool star on free transfer

Liverpool could lose another high-value player for free with PSG on the prowl.

European champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly plotting to sign Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season after recent reports revealed that he was unhappy with the terms offered to him for contract renewal.

Konate unhappy

As Pulse Sports reported, Konate is stalling on a new contract with Liverpool, raising concerns within the club about another key player potentially running down their deal after Trent left to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

The French defender will enter the final year of his current contract next month and has apparently rejected the Reds' initial extension offer.

As per The Guardian, the 26-year-old is said to be dissatisfied with the structure of the club's offer, which heavily relies on performance targets, with his representatives pushing for a higher basic wage.'

PSG looking to capitalise

According to a report from Sportzone, the Parisiens are interested in the French international, who supported the club as a child. While they could make a move this summer, they are said to be targeting signing him as a free agent.

PSG view Konate as a high-value target, but as Real Madrid did with Trent Alexander-Arnold, they prefer to wait until he is free to avoid negotiating with Liverpool.
