English giants sack captain 1 month after he was involved in a serious accident

Republic of Ireland international Richard Keogh has been sacked by Championship club Derby County a month after he was involved in an accident which left him injured.

Richard Keogh sustained serious injury in the accident which has ruled him out of action for the next 12 months.

After being ruled out for one year, Derby County chiefs are reported to have told Richard to accept a pay cut due to the fact that he will not be playing.

But the 33-year-old defender rejected the offer and immediately instructed his lawyers to consider his next steps.

"Derby County Football Club has completed the disciplinary hearing regarding Richard Keogh in respect of his involvement in the events of Tuesday, September 24th.

"As a result of that process, Mr Keogh has had his contract terminated with immediate effect for gross misconduct. He has the right of appeal within 14 days,'' Derby stated in a statement according to UK Sun.

Meanwhile, Derby County are currently occupying 16th position on the Championship table with 18 points after 14 games played.
