Champions League: Mourinho fires strong warning to Manchester City, Liverpool

Jose Mourinho has issued warnings to Liverpool and Manchester City, ahead of their Champions League quarter-final matches against Porto and Tottenham respectively.

Liverpool, who thumped Porto 5-0 in Europe last season, welcome the Portuguese side to Anfield on Tuesday evening, for the first leg of the last-eight tie.

On the same night, Premier League champions Man City travel to north London to face Spurs.

On City's clash with Spurs, Mourinho told RT: "Of course City is a candidate to win the competition.

"But the first Champions League big night at the new [Tottenham] stadium I believe will be extra motivation for the whole Spurs family.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs give City a hard night."
Mourinho also expects Porto to trouble Liverpool and says it will be "almost impossible" for the Reds, to secure another 5-0 win as they did last year.

"Liverpool will go for a victory.

"They know last season 5-0 against Porto is out of context and almost impossible to repeat, but they will go for a victory and Porto of course wants a result to leave it open for the second leg like they did against Roma [in the last 16]," he added.
