Ex Chelsea boss turns down move to replace Lopetegui at Real Madrid

Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly dropped out of the race to become the next Real Madrid handler.
The Galacticos recently sacked their coach Julen Lopetegui after their 5-1 defeat to rival club, Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday.
They have however named Santiago Solari as the interim gaffer for the remainder of the season while they shop for a substantial replacement at the club.
According to Sky Sports, the former Italy national team boss believes the Los Blancos project is not right for him.

Conte has been club-less since he parted ways with Chelsea in the summer of 2018, and the Spanish giants were hoping they could bring him to the Bernabeu.
The 49-year-old has decided to observe a break before returning to football, until the summer, but could be tempted into management mid-season, but only if the project was right as reported by Sky Sports.

According to the news platform, Conte will not be able to manage any Premier League club but free to join a club abroad.
Meanwhile, Santiago Solari will oversee his first game as Madrid battle third-tier Melilla in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday evening.

Spanish league rules mean the 42-year-old Solari can only manage on an interim basis for two weeks, at which point Real must appoint a permanent successor to Lopetegui.
