Ambode defends investment in security

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Thursday inaugurated the newly reconstructed Ikosi-Isheri Police Station, saying every investment made in protecting lives and property in Lagos was worthwhile.

Ambode explained that the importance attached to the security of lives and property in the state since he assumed office was informed by his belief that business activities could only thrive in a safe and secure environment.

The governor, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Mr. Seye Oladejo, said, "We believe that the continued prosperity of our state can only be achieved under a well-secure and peaceful environment, hence our strong financial investment in security."

He also noted that there was a need to adequately police Isheri, a border town, adding that the police needed to maintain the peace being enjoyed in the area.

Ambode urged vigilance from residents of the state, and advised security officers to double their efforts in curbing kidnapping, cultism, gangsterism and other crimes.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who was represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Area H, Aliyu Garba, said the division was determined to fight those that sought to breach the peace in Isheri and its environs.".

The Sole Administrator of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Authoriy, Adewale Abdul, assured the governor that the council would maintain the facility.
