A Nigerian man has raised an alarm over the conduct of police officers following a deadly armed robbery incident along the LASU-Sherri Expressway, Igando area of Lagos.
According to a post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the user identified as @gib_smoke recounted how armed robbers invaded Lanre Bus Stop at about 10 p.m.
On July 25, 2025, killing four people during the attack.
He revealed that police officers only arrived about 45 minutes after the assailants had left only to arrest innocent individuals returning from work.
His words:
"Along LASU-Sherri express road [Igando] around 10 p.m. yesterday, July 25, 2025, armed robbers came to rob Lanre Bus Stop and shot four people dead."
"Police showed up over 45 minutes after the robbers left. They came from Igando Police Station and Idimu Police Station in separate yellow buses, arrested a handful of people coming back from work, and drove back to their stations."
He went on to say that less than 24 hours later, on July 26, armed robbers returned to the same location to rob people again, with no police presence at the time.
"Less than an hour ago, July 26, 2025, armed robbers pulled up at that same bus stop and robbed people, with zero policemen in sight."
"Hopefully, @PoliceNG officers will return again tonight to arrest more people. After armed robbery operations, police will operate their own. In all of this, it's the same citizens that suffer."
The post has since sparked outrage, with several users flooding the comment section to condemn the police response and express concern over rising insecurity and the targeting of innocent citizens.
