Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has restated his commitment to serve only one term if elected president, declaring his intention to run again in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the Sunday Politics programme, Obi dismissed claims that he would settle for a vice-presidential role, insisting he would only contest as president.
"I'm going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe I am qualified," he said.
The former Anambra State governor emphasized that he would not exceed four years in office if elected, vowing to use that time to set Nigeria on a path of progress.
"I don't need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good governance," he said confidently.
Obi criticized the current state of the nation, saying that much damage had already been done in the last two years.
However, he maintained that real change is possible within the same period.
"In two years, there have been maximum damage. Two years can change it in good direction," he noted. "People want to get up and see a president that cares, that shows compassion."
