With less than two years to Nigeria's next general elections, posters featuring Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, have appeared in prominent areas of Jigawa State, fueling speculation about his potential bid for the 2027 presidential election.

The posters, boldly displaying the insignia of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were seen in strategic areas of Dutse, the state capital.

Slogans such as "To Move Nigeria Forward 2027: His Excellency Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for President" and "2027: Seyi Makinde Is the Answer" featured prominently.

Some of the high-traffic areas where the posters were sighted include the Unity Pentagon, Police Headquarters Roundabout, Mai Kwarin Roundabout, Obasanjo Road, Muhammadu Buhari Street, Abdulsalami Abubakar Street, and Abdullahi Mai Kano Road.

Speaking with journalists in Dutse, the National Secretary of the Nigeria Youths Awareness Group for Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027), Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, confirmed that the initiative was part of a deliberate mobilisation effort.
"We have met as different groups and agreed to support Seyi Makinde for President in 2027. We are reaching out to various stakeholders to achieve this goal," he said.

Abdullahi noted that contacts have already been established with political figures nationwide, and plans are in motion to take the campaign to a wider audience.
"We have concluded arrangements for wider visibility. By next week, we plan to extend the distribution of posters and other campaign materials to several northern states, including Kano, Bauchi, Katsina, Borno, Yobe, and Gombe," he added.

He also hinted that the campaign will gradually expand to southern Nigeria as part of a broader strategy to build momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
