Thomas Tuchel has fired back at critics of his England team after the 3-1 humbling by Senegal and insisted he still knows what he's doing - urging those against him to keep calm and carry on
Thomas Tuchel has told people not to panic in the wake of England's Senegal shambles in Nottingham.
But Tuchel does admit his Three Lions still have a battle on their hands to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup. The German manager is facing a mini-crisis just four games into his reign as boss.
England struggled to beat minnows Andorra, before crashing to a shock 3-1 loss to Senegal at the City Ground. Now Tuchel has issued a rallying cry and urged his staff, players, supporters and critics to stick together now the going has got tough.
The former Chelsea, Borussia Dortumund and Paris Saint-Germain boss insists he still knows what he's doing and he said: "It's just a learning curve. The job looks always easy from the outside.
"There are always millions of football coaches who have an answer, and better ideas. I'm far from perfect, and far from thinking I do everything right. It is a big challenge, I knew this before.
"I adapt to international football, I adapt to selecting camps, how to influence the team and staff in a short period of time, which is then very intense.
"I think it's very important now we stay calm and stay together. I feel this togetherness between the players and the staff from all of us.
"It's very important we remind ourselves this is needed, if we want to get better."
England top their qualification group, but still have hostile trips to Serbia and Albania to come - and Tuchel is taking nothing for granted when it comes to reaching the World Cup.
He added: "100%. But this the balance we have to get right. This is the perception because we are competitive, we are in tournaments and we qualify.
"I'm still convinced that we qualify and we will be competitive and are able to win our qualification group. But we have to be better."
