Suspended Referee David Coote has taken up delivery Job after UEFA ban.
Former Premier League referee David Coote has resurfaced in an unexpected role now working as a delivery driver following a high-profile suspension from football.
Coote, once among England's top officials, was banned by UEFA until June 2026 due to a series of off-field controversies that brought the sport into disrepute.
The English refereeing board also terminated his contract after conducting an internal investigation into his conduct.
His downfall was triggered by a series of incidents, including allegations of verbal abuse toward former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, as well as a leaked video showing him inhaling a white powder.
UEFA cited a breach of professional conduct and damage to football's image in handing down the lengthy suspension.
In an interview with The Sun, Coote shared insight into his new role;
"I just want to move on. It's important to find meaning in life and be responsible. This job helps me relax, but I don't see it as a new career."
Coote also opened up about the personal struggles that contributed to his behavior, revealing that much of his erratic conduct stemmed from the pressure of hiding his sexual orientation.
The 41-year-old hopes his decision to step away from football - at least temporarily - will allow him space to rebuild his life, with no current plans to return to refereeing after his ban is lifted.
