Man United sent radical Jurgen Klopp plan amid £100m Bruno Fernandes transfer fears

Manchester United are waiting to see whether Bruno Fernandes will leave the club for Al Hilal this summer for £100m

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has proposed a radical summer plan for Manchester United that would see Ruben Amorim sacked, replaced by ex-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Bruno Fernandes sold to Al Hilal.

United supporters are currently bracing themselves for further news on Fernandes' future. We reported last week that the midfielder is seriously considering leaving the club in favour of a move to Saudi Arabia.

It is expected that the Saudi club would be willing to pay as much as £100m for Fernandes' services this summer. If he were to leave, which reports from the Middle East believe is a real possibility, Amorim would be the most popular figure left standing at Old Trafford.

Despite his side's poor Premier League form, Amorim has proven to be popular with the United fans who feel there are larger factors working against him at present. Appearing on talkSPORT, Keown explained why he would be happy to wave goodbye to both men this summer even when fan sentiment supports keeping the duo.

"The amount of games they have lost, I am still concerned that maybe this is not the right manager for Manchester United," the Arsenal icon said. "It is going to be a very interesting start to the season.

"They could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club. I am not trying to sensationalise, I just believe that he might do an incredible job there.

"They need somebody with more experience than the current manager." When asked if he could seriously see Klopp moving to Old Trafford when he is tied so intrinsically to Anfield, Keown swiftly replied: "Why not? He has done it once before albeit it was a better foundation," before swiftly rounding on the captain.

"But, I think Manchester United need to sell Bruno Fernandes," he concluded. "I don't think, when they get to where they want to get to and if PSG are the blueprint of how you want to play... he is not going to press.

"He is the icing on the cake type of player but even then, with his end product, I don't believe he is good enough for Manchester United, sell him now." In the unlikely scenario that both Amorim and Fernandes were to leave and Klopp was targeted to replace the United head coach, Ineos would need to force the German away from his current role as Head of Football at Red Bull.

They would also need to replace the output of Fernandes. Even in United's poor season, the midfielder managed to score 19 goals and grab 20 assists in the process.
