As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, CD Projekt RED has shared it is working on one final patch for The Witcher 3. Arriving later this year, the update will bring mod support to the PS5 version of the RPG.
In a blog post, the developer revealed: "Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X-S via mod.io. Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X-S will be able to share a modding ecosystem."
The ability to upload, share, and download mods for your game will be free, and the feature is coming to the current gen of platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X-S, and PC. It won't be added to the original PS4 version.
CD Projekt RED clarifies that it's possible not every mod uploaded to PC will be available on the console versions "due to specific content guidelines and selection criteria". If you're looking to create your own mods, then you will also need to do so on PC. The PS5 and Xbox Series X-S will only be able to download them.
"We will share more information closer to the release of the patch, so stay tuned," the developer signed off. "Thank you for being part of this incredible journey over the last 10 years. We can't wait to see what you'll bring to the world of The Witcher!"
