Rivers State Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has announced plans for the phased rehabilitation of the State Secretariat Complex, aligning with his administration's broader efforts to enhance public service delivery and improve workers' welfare.

Ibas made this known at the closing ceremony of a four-day Transformational Leadership Training Workshop organized by his administration in partnership with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS.

The workshop, held in Port Harcourt, was aimed at equipping Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Administrators, Directors, and senior public officers with advanced leadership competencies to drive effective governance reforms.

He noted that while capacity-building is essential, a conducive physical work environment is equally critical to promoting productivity and excellence in public service.

Ibas announced that the State Secretariat would undergo phased rehabilitation to create a modern, efficient, and dignified workspace.

He also disclosed that a review of the state's public service welfare policy is underway, with the goal of better motivating civil servants within the limits of available resources.

The Sole Administrator further tasked Local Government Council Administrators with putting the newly acquired leadership skills into action to deliver meaningful development.

He directed them to submit development plans within two weeks, emphasizing accountability and results.

To ensure transparency and prudent financial management, Ibas stated that the Auditor-General for Local Governments will be further empowered to rigorously monitor resource utilization, ensuring that every naira spent translates into tangible benefits for the people of Rivers State.
