'We are the Farmer's League' - PSG coach mocks Premier League fans after dumping Arsenal out of UCL

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique fired back at the derision from Premier League fans after defeating their fourth English team this UCL campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique made the "Farmer's League" quip after his side defeated Arsenal to advance to the Champions League final.

The match in brief

PSG held a slender advantage after the first leg, but Arsenal made a blistering start, with Declan Rice heading wide and Gianluigi Donnarumma making crucial saves. PSG weathered the storm and took the lead with Fabian Ruiz's stunning strike from a Thomas Partey-headed set piece.

The match seesawed, with Donnarumma denying Bukayo Saka and David Raya saving Vitinha's penalty. However, Achraf Hakimi's clinical finish seemed to seal the win for PSG.

But Arsenal refused to give up, with Leandro Trossard setting up Saka to score a vital goal. Despite a golden opportunity for Saka to score again, PSG held on to progress, booking a final against Inter.

What Enrique said

Given PSG's dominance and wealth disparity in Ligue 1, the division has been derisively referred to as the Farmers League by fans and even sections of the media.

These fans are mostly fans of the English Premier League, the most watched football league in the world, and after a Champions League campaign in which his side knocked out four English teams-Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and now Arsenal-Enrique ensured he had the last laugh.

"Beating all 4 Premier League teams? Well... the League of Farmers, know? We are the league of farmers," Enrique said.

Meanwhile, Inter beat Barcelona for the second semi-final slot. Inter and PSG will lock horns at Bayern Munich's stadium-the Allianz Arena in Munich-on May 31st.
