80-Year-Old Colombian National Found Dead in Lagos Hotel Room as Police Begin Probe

It was learnt that the lifeless body of Mr. Alfonso was discovered on May 1 at about 3:45pm in Room C85, located on the 8th floor of the hotel.

Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, an 80-year-old Colombian national, has been reportedly found dead in his room at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Festac Town in Lagos State.

It was learnt that the lifeless body of Mr. Alfonso was discovered on May 1 at about 3:45pm in Room C85, located on the 8th floor of the hotel.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, also confirmed the incident to Reporters on Saturday morning.

Following a distress call, homicide detectives and other officers were promptly dispatched to the scene, a security source, Zagazola Makama, reports.

According to police sources, preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had been residing at the hotel for over four months prior to his death.

No visible signs of violence or foul play were observed on the body.

The corpse has since been transported to the Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba, where it has been preserved for autopsy. Authorities confirmed that a coroner's inquest has commenced, alongside other necessary legal procedures.

In connection with the ongoing investigation, some members of the hotel's management staff were said to have been temporarily detained for failing to maintain accurate guest records.

They have been released after questioning.

According to the report, the Lagos Police Command has assured the public that the investigation into the cause of Mr. Alfonso's death would continue with utmost diligence.
