17 Times A Designer Had No Idea WTF They Were Doing and Did It Anyway

We live in a poorly designed world, in more ways than one. Just like there seems to be no end in sight to the five-day workweek, architects, builders, and DIYers with a toolkit and a dream seem eternally hellbent on messing the heck out of buildings of all kinds.

1. This would only be useful if the door opened away from the kitchen so you could reach in for a snack:

2. Slip 'N Slide your way home:

3. Just gross all around:

Restroom with toilet and water fountain right next to each other. Sign above toilet says not to pee on top of it

4. Blah blah, paths of desire:

Large red valve on concrete slab near a leafy wall, possibly part of an irrigation or plumbing system

5. Playing real-life Tetris over here:

Large, asymmetrical gray house with large windows, next to a white picket fence and crosswalk

6. Don't worry, I think the carpet will get all the liquid first:

Carpeted laundry room floor with a drain in the middle

7. The island-stairwell combo is really frying me:

Kitchen with wooden cabinets. A stairwell opens in the middle of it, partially covered by a kitchen island

8. Not this again... (yes, that's the shower):

Small bathroom with toilet and sink. Arrow points to an electrical outlet in the shower

9. It's a roundabout!

View from a car approaching a circular area laid with bricks in the middle of an intersection in a suburban commercial area

...Oh wait:

Pedestrian sign at a road. Small sign below reads: "Intersection NOT roundabout. Proceed as 4-way stop"

10. The fireplace is the only one enjoying the ocean view:

Two-story house in a coastal neighborhood with a large bay window, revealing a fireplace centered inside

11. How on earth did they even get the stuff in there:

A hand opens a kitchen cabinet door, revealing dishes and utensils inside. The bottom of a staircase blocks door from opening more than 45 degrees

12. You better not need to go in the middle of the night:

Bathroom with hexagonal marble-patterned tiles. Two steps lead to an elevated area with shower and toilet, which is tucked right next to the steps

13. What a beautiful tapestry:

Four-story modern apartment building with several mismatched windows of different heights, widths, and number of panels

14. This drawer that won't open all the way if the oven is closed...

Kitchen drawer slightly open, blocked from opening further by oven handle

...and will TURN ON the gas range if it's open:

Oven is open, allowing drawer to open, but it hits and turns a knob for the gas range

15. The all too common flat-bottomed sink that won't drain:

Modern bathroom with a square-shaped sink with a flat bottom. Water sits at the bottom without draining

16. Bringing the comfort of the indoors outside:

A house with a broken window blind meant for the interior hanging unevenly

17. And finally, a neverending lineup of doors that's probably an interdimensional portal:

Partially constructed hallway with several unfinished doorways and open doors that all line up

Which one would make you run in the opposite direction if you saw it IRL?
